Today is an important day in history.
December 6, 1989 at a Polytechnic School in Montreal, Quebec 14 women were murdered for attending engineering classes, for being “feminists”. This was apparently a disgusting notion to Marc Lepine, obviously threatened by these women’s abilities, and their drive to make their mark in a male dominated career path.
I don’t want to go on about my feelings regarding this event, since there are so many others that have in a much more eloquent way than I, but I do want to take a moment of my day to honor these women and their dreams that were cut short by one terribly insecure person. I also want to remind those that do read my little corner of the internet of how far we still have to go in the fight against misogyny and violence against women.
Be all you can be, don’t sell yourself short because of society’s expectations. Defend the rights of others and support their dreams.
That is all. Thank you.
